As shots / composition, they don't jump out and grab me personally, but I do think that they're both over saturated with heavy contrast, may drop the saturation down a little, also not knowing the conditions you shot in, I'd sat the WB is a little yellow here (again for me personally)

Agree with D7K about contrast, saturation, and WB. As far as subject and composition, the first one has blurry stuff in the foreground blocking what I guess is the subject and the second one is bulls-eyed with nothing interesting surrounding it and neither of them is that interesting subject-wise. There are a lot of really good images like what you're attempting here that can be pulled from nature, but developing a sense of what works and what doesn't takes time and study. Learn the rules, break them, and then settle into your own style.

I can tell from your posts you're playing around with shooting and editing and trying everything you can and I totally encourage you to do that. I used to make HDRs that were described by somebody as a "vomit of color" (lol) so it took me a while to be able to imagine what I wanted and create it. And nowadays I don't screw around with really working at it that much. I just shoot birds and landscapes and not much else. It's fun to see people starting down this path. Cheers!

Ok, yea i thought it was too yellow as well. I was playing around with lightroom. i still got a ways to go with editing photos. i'm grateful i found this site! thank you!
