In my opinion, go to a verticle format and bring the peak of the lighthouse closer to the top edge. In a lighthouse, I'm usually looking for a tall, soaring sense. I've foung a verticle format portrays that better. The extra sky at the top of the frame actually makes the lighthouse feel shorter and more squat to me.
With lighthouses I like to see the ground, to kind of ground them if you will as a lighthouse suspended in space just seems...well odd to me. For that reason, to me anyway...even the second photo wants me to scroll down and see some semblance of ground. But maybe it is just me. Otherwise I think you did well.
