lighting set-up for product shots

I will be adding product photography to my list of services (I've been trained on how to do it, but haven't been able to afford the studio equipment until now).

When I worked for other companies, we had the funds to buy top of the line equipment, but now that I'm on my own, I'm on a budget. What would be a good (and portable) lighting set-up for taking product shots?

Are shooting tents any good?
