Interesting. You have a delicate hand... his shoulder just BARELY doesn't blend into the background.

The subject is interesting. The composition doesn't thrill me in a few ways, but I know you to some degree and I suspect the simplicity was intentional?

I spent a good amount of time adjusting the luminosity in the color image before converting it.
The subject is interesting enough - a little boy in Mandalay, Myanmar dressed in a suit, standing in the doorway of what looks like a store and I wanted to present that subject, including his light color shoes, for the viewer to try and make out a back-story.

His hands show that something is going on while his face is almost blank, yet engages the viewer.
I think it is sort of an interesting puzzle for the viewer.

His eyes & expression look much older than his actual years. This photo makes me want to know his back story. The clothes look like they have been handed down and have a story of their own. Beautiful capture!

Believe me that this wasn't actually parsed in my head previously. After your initial comment I tried to dissect why I had this end point for the image in my head, what I thought about what it said - or would say. I tried to make the actual image look like what I saw in my mind's eye.

It was that disconnect between how he 'should' have been dressed and how he was dressed that initially caught my attention along with his oddly serious, yet unemotional, expression. It was a story I couldn't dissect and so I tried to catch it.
