I can't decide if the joke above is funny or mean... i don't think i'd appreciate it at 1.30 in the morning....
as far as practical jokes go... I know someone who put lit candles at the bottom of a large spiral staircase and poured a load of custard powder over the edge at the top of the staircase... then when the two met.... FOOOOMMM!!!

the alarm is a digital clock alarm they've stuck to the underside of the window sill outside his bedroom and set it for the middle of the night so it'll go off, and they won't be able to find it...
