It has some nice lines framing and leading to the house, and good tonal range, but it looks very soft, which doesn't help this image, imo.

the original is much sharper, I think it lost something in the resize?

Could be. If you downsize in PS, bicubic sharper is recommended, which adds some sharpening to compensate for lost detail.
