I'm no pro, but your photos are awfully gray. I see the aim of black and white to really show contrast and the difference between whites and blacks. The white flower one is awesome because we have this stark white flower against a relatively dark gray background, making it pop and showing us what the subject is. In the squirrel one, everything is just gray, with no clear contrast showing what the subject is.
 
I agree that they are kind of gray, except for the first, which has a good tonal range. Even the flower shot is kind of gray, because the rest of the frame is a muddy gray. This can work for some images, but not usually, and not in these, imo.

The flower is not bad, although the left and bottom areas are not that interesting, so I think this would be better with those cropped to put the flower near the lower left corner, and boosting the contrast elsewhere would help too.
