Thanks for taking a look. I used luminence layers to blend 3 shots into this image. I was impressed with how well it handled the trees and it was zero masking work for me. Anyone else have experience using luminence layers to blend HDR shots in photoshop? Feel free to C&C the image as well, would love to know what to improve.

Very pleasing looking shot. Im not sure what luminence layering is, but eager to know more. Did you bracket your shots? How many shots? etc.

Its 3 shots, -2.5, 0 and +2. Put the +2 on a fairly low opacity to keep the evening soft light mood. Its masking based on the brightness of the pixels (Tony Kuyper wrote the photoshop actions, Tony Kuyper Photography). I used a lights mask and just dropped the -2.5 shot over the 0 shot. Copied it 3 times (since the masks are feathered) to get the look I wanted and the sky was done. Same thing with the dark foliage.

It would be interesting to compare this image with one processed thru Photomatix or some other HDR processor. I suspect it would 'glow' a little more.

From what Im reading here I getting that this is more of a layering technique as opposed to a HDR merge. Am I correct here?
