machu picchu

Seen 10^10 pix of this landmark site. But not that one! Nice job!

Amazing! You added sharpness to the photo right? What lens did you use for these shots their so sharp!

They were either taken with a Nikon 24-70 or 70-200---I don't recall which. Sharpening was done in Photomatix and then a bit with unsharpen mask in Photoshop. Our Peruvian guide told us the tree in the pictures is about 30 years old and was planted to give photographs perspective.

Nice work.

How'd you manage a time where there were not many people there?

The light emitting from behind the mountain in your second photo makes the image powerful.

In answer to how I got there w/o people: I stayed at Sanctuary Lodge which is located right at the entrance. Thus as soon as the gate opened in the morning I was one of the first admitted. I had scouted it all out the afternoon before so knew the vantage point I wanted to get to. It was still a good 15 or 20 mins up steep stairs to this point and so there were a few people in the picture who I photoshopped out.

I was supposed to go there this past summer to shoot a mission group that does work down there, but the funding fell through. They go down every year, so I've already started squirreling away my nickels and dimes to get there next year...
