Manual focus lenses

Hi folks

I'm hoping to move up to a DSLR soon(ish). I'm tending towards a Nikkon D80 at the moment because of its compatability with older Nikon MF lenses. I aim to buy cheaper used MF lenses as the D80 will blow most of my budget. I have no problem with focusing manully, but wondered how meter readings would be affected?

Any views or advice welcome.
