Melbourne B&W Night Shot

This is my first time doing a B&W. I have not edited or taken any shots which I converted to B&W. Let me know what I can improve please! Both picture taking and editing on Photoshop. Thanks!

I don't think this subject is the best for monochrome ... too much extreme highlight and shadow areas.
You could try to recover more mid-tones ... not sure if that will improve the shot.

Definitely some possibilities here. Do you have a speedlight? I think you could have flashed the RR tracks and gotten more detail in that area. The nearly-center bright spot is over exposed, and some other areas are underexposed. Does you camera enable you to bracket two or three shots? Try that, and if that doesn't give the foreground some detail, then flash it. Also, you have some unsharp areas. Did your tripod have some vibration in it?

I did take a few shots of it with different exposures so managed to make a HDR out of it so I managed to make that area more defined. Check out the coloured version and the B&W below. Sorry. Its slightly larger than the usual size, so it may take a little while to load.

I love the photo, but there's that huge gap of cloud, u cropped it do it has the "leading lines" composition, where the lines are comoing out of the corners

haha i did not crop the photo at all though.

the line that came out from the corner was actually a helicopter and because i had a shutter of round about 30s to 1m, it captured the light.
