Things worked out. I was actually on the clock, but had a little free time, was close enough to visit, and was able to make it right at sunrise. Oh yeah, and it was 9 degrees out with a wind chill of 6 below. Talk about freezing your face off. Had to blink away tears from the cold to see through the view finder.
This is the Meridian Bridge in Yankton, SD. It was built and operated as a double-deck auto bridge with a lift section. There was a single lane of traffic in each direction. With the construction of a new bridge, the Meridian has been converted into a pedestrian bridge across the river.
