Monarch passing thru Kansas, heading south!

[24megapixseal81 7]

The monarch are showing up again, on their way down to Central America for the winter.
It just blows my mind that they are about to fly 1000s of miles...they look like they're having a hard time finding the next flower.

I asked the wife what plant it was on and she smiled and said "It's a Butterfly Bush...DUH!"...
It's wings are showing some wear already.
Nature is amazing, no doubt!...

Taken about 8 ft away with a Nikon D3500 w/AF-P DX 70-300 4.5-6.3 VR

It is truly amazing how these tiny creatures fly such a huge distance to ensure their survival.

Nice shot!

Nice shot!

What makes it really amazing is that it's a multi generation migration. The adults never complete the whole trip. Many generations live and die during the trip both ways. They follow the nectar and host plant growth seasons.
