The main issue I have is with the color of the skin, it's redder in most areas where I want it to be the same tone throughout. Anyone have any tips for that?

Select the color range you want to change, adjust the fuzziness to get it all so it will feather into the rest well, then shift it in color balance or hue/saturation.

The issue I'm having with color range, is that it literally selects most of the highlights in the picture

Shift click on other parts, and adjust fuzziness.

There's always 10 different ways to get something done in PS though, so here's something else to try, and even more direct probably:

1. New transparent layer.
2. Paint whatever color you think is right over the whole entire leg/foot area - don't worry - it's just a starting point.
3. Change layer blending mode to Color.
4. Fire up a Hue/Saturation layer on top of that, clip it to the painted layer you just made, and adjust color, hue and light/darkness to taste.
5. Go to the painted layer and throw on a mask if needed to fine-tune the paint job.

Exactly, with the other pictures, you can make out that these feet are apart of a person... in a trunk.
