2nd one has potential. composition is OK, but almost no shadow detail. it's underexposed... but any more exposure and you'd blow the whites on their faces and the sky as well. Try the same shot when lighting is softer (i.e., later in the day or earlier)

You could try slicing off the left (the cow that is bright) or the right part (where the only the cows face is lighted). The left then would have been OK, and the right a little abstract.
