I'd always heard them called "Railroad Lilies", because you found them spreading along the railroad tracks. Railroad Lilies | Outside My Window They're actually Orange day lilies which vary some in color, we have them everywhere around here. Some states have listed them as an invasive pest, because of how quickly they can spread.
