Went out fishing today and snapped up some photos of this guy in his kayak

I would say that I like the first one better. I like composition, balance you achieved
There is definitely some room for improvement but I'm looking at my crappy computer at work so I can't tell you anything useful.

Also like the first image better than the second but think there is too much wasted space in the foreground/bottom half of your image.

The second image doesn't have balance compositionally. The center composition and subject's movement from right to left don't have flow.

Do you think i should have cropped the bottom on the first image ? funny you two like the first image more, i liked the other one, to me it feels more serene, and i liked how the light on the water lead up to the kayaker as if it was a trail leading you to him or one he left behind.

Yeah I'd probably crop out the bottom on that first one. As for the light on the water as leading, if it leads in any picture it's the first one that leads right to him. In the second it leads right o the mountains on the right hand side and right out of the frame. Had your subject been either in that light or on the right hand side opposite of it, it might have worked. FWIW been seeing better stuff from you lately though so keep working at it.

Much like the others, I'd prefer the first photo, and crop the lower portion of it.
It keeps the composition clean and abides by the rule of thirds.

Although, there's too much negative space. There's nothing really dynamic about either of these photos.
It doesn't make me go, 'Wow!'

Also, be sure to clean your camera. I can see a lot of dirt and dust particles in your images.

Just cleaned the damn thing lol i was thinking it was debris in the water but now im thinking along your lines, maybe ill need to take the camera in and get cleaned by a pro i really dont want to stuff the sensor :-(
