Movie Review: Tron Legacy

Keep in mind that I last saw Tron when I was very small. I remember almost nothing about it other than being amazed by it, so it's possible I just didn't get some of the references or connections.

Take your standard action script, insert cardboard characters (oh look - the bored, hacker, base-jumper, wise-ass rich kid who happens to be great at everything...) and add elements of a classic and milk that udder til it bleeds.

If you were a fan of the original Tron, it's probably worth seeing this for nostalgic value (the light cycle scene was pretty cool), but otherwise... meh.

It is directed by Joseph Kosinski and the stars of the film are Garrett Hedlund, Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner. Driving home from the midnight screening of Tron: Legacy, I realized that I should have been disappointed by the movie. It is a 3D high-tech adventure set.

I was going to college and working as a movie projectionist when the original TRON was in release...I sat through it about a dozen times...the audiences were so dismal for TRON that it left the theatre very quickly. The original film, IMHO, sucked. Audiences thought it sucked. I would not expect much more from a sequel coughed up 20-some-odd years later.

It's possible. I was very young when I saw it, and I was amazed by it. But then Iw asn't looking at it from any technical perspective, but rather from a "cool, its like a video game!!!" childs eyes lol

Glad I didnt spend the 30 dollars to take my daughter too it the other night. First time my teenager has said to me, no movie tonight Mom Im pretty tired.

Pretty cool movie, I like this movie and really nice screen shots and good story as well, Nice play role by all characters and best direction. One of the best movie in this recent year.

i actually really liked this movie. kinda surprised that most people didnt like it but what was even more amazing was the music!

To be honest the Hollywood movie machine is so predictable these days and so bent on re-releasing and releasing sequals to films which are always weaker than the original that I've come to expect it of them. I know without a doubt that most will be full of action with a simplistic highly moralistic story with some cool action - big explosions and sometimes a general need for me to remove half my brain before I watch.

That said

I vote we burn him in boiling oils for his hate and insults to the original classic!!

Come brothers and sisters - let is burn the hieratic before he starts upon another - today its Tron - yesterday it could be Back to the Future!

Normally I would agree -but he's a self admitted nikon user as well - so burning oils is the only option!

OH... but you forget what has been repeated many times in countless threads.... Derrel shoots with a Canon 5D too.. which makes him a demigod of all things photographic.

There's only one way to deal with that sort of entity.... toss him in the nearest active volcano as we hold hands and sing Kumbaya
