Multiple filters

Hello hello!

So I bought my first digital SLR today (thank you thank you) and now I have a question: I usually keep a UV filter on my lens at all times, but tomorrow I'm going to be shooting where I need a polarizing filter, but there will also be wind and potential debris. Can or should I stack a UV (for scratch prevention of my PL filter) on top of my PL filter without causing too much distortion?

I would never recommend stacking filters. It can cause vignetting. In Oklahoma, where the wind blows all the time, you are going to have to expect to replace your filters fairly often. Or shoot with your back to the wind all the time.
