Music - photos of friends

I took the following two shots of my friends from school during rehearsal for our jazz ensemble. I really like how these turned out - however, I'm always looking for critique from outside sources. I like the first one. I think you nailed the focus where should be: fingers on the frets.

I agree about the music stand. If this was out of the way, you can take the photo from a lower angle, reducing the white wall area.
