What type of gear/settings (really just focal length) did you use to get that picture? How close were you to him? All my lenses are 105 and below.. I'm looking into getting something with more length so I can get closer without actually having to be closer.

That shot was taken with the 40D and the 70-200mm f/2.8L; probably far closer to 200mm than 70mm. I was in the pit, right in front of the stage...

Dont like #1 cause the guitar head blocks part of his face but the rest are pretty good.

I was actually trying to get the peghead of the guitar to block more of Johnny's face, and get just an eye in focus. The guy moves around a lot, though...
