I had to take more than a few shots and a lot of time laying in the grass before I got one with her in a "pose".

I find it always helps with the total look if I can angle the camera so there's a solid background (like grass).....then there's no distraction from the beauty of the animal

Thanks Sue,

It would be nice to have a solid background but I don't like the standard "looking down" perspective that is usually the case with small animals and children. I prefer to get down onto their level and shoot from there.

I cropped and tinkered in PS trying to make the subject stand out from what was a fairly distracting background.

Yeah I know what you mean Mike......I like to get down and grubby knees with them too. Have to go to work now but will post a couple of puppy pics later tonight

Nice photo I like that you are down on her level, I like to do that with my cats. The background is busy, but I think you succeeded in making her stand out, nice work!
