I really like the 2nd one, but they are both really good Maybe they could do with a little bit of cropping?

subject isnt bad but the surroundings distract

I think the second is best. I agree with a bit of cropping. If equipment allows, I would try and shoot with a shallower depth of field to blur the background more by using a larger aperture, or longer focal length.

The second might be just touch too low, nit not much at all. Hard to tell since the dog looked upward, so maybe it's fine.

Exif said the WB was tungsten, was I reading that correct?

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the input. Yes fotoguy the en was tungsten I had been shooting inside before we went to the park and I forgot to change it luckily I was shooting in raw and fixed it in ACR. I was using a kit lens so I wasn't able to go lower on ap. I have 70-200 2.8 but thought it would be too long I didn't try it maybe I will next time.

the second one is great... has all the qualities to have the pic stand out..crisp... dog looks beautiful... and flowers for color...love it.

the first one looks a little too much like the dog is going to the toilet. The second one however is very nice.
