Hello ALL,
I have bought Nikon J1 with 10-30mm, 30-110mm lens.
I select all parameters in M mode as I wish to learn more from that.

It seems the color is not sharp enough. Is it because the daylight is not enough?(as cloudy)
Or I should be able to make it better by adjusting the exposure?
Thanks!

They may be over-exposed. Did you shoot in RAW or JGEG ?
Not sure about the J1 ... as it is very new camera, don't know much about it's abilities ... so I cannot comment much on it or the lenses.

Thanks for all your prompt reply!

I shoot in JPEG as I think I don't have ability to manipulate RAW :)
Or do you think RAW should be better for learning?

And, do you mean all three photos are over-exposed?

... they seem over-exposed for the complete image.
As you are shooting in manual ... you should try to understand what your exposure meter is going to tell you, and it may not be correct for the image that you envisioned.

#1 should be darker.
#2 is not bad in exposure ... could use a polarizing filter to reduce reflection from the waxy petals, which will make them darker.
and I think #3 should be darker.

Now this is my opinion on what I envision for the images ... which may not fit with what you see.

Thank you so much dxqcanada.
I will pay more attention to the exposure of the photos.

By the way,
when the whether is cloudy(like in the photos),
is it possible to make the color sharper?

As I think my photos are dull....

In the menu option, go to picture control (C1), and increase the saturation all the way.
It's a great setting for objects and landscapes. I own a d7000 and that's the setting that I use. Pictures come out so vibrant.

Or shoot in RAW and have total control. Shooting in jpeg means that your camera decides how certain things are done. White Balance for example can change a shot completely. You can always play with saturation in PP and will have more control with this when you shoot in RAW as you won't have thrown out a lot of the data captured by your sensor

I mainly shoot in raw or raw+jpeg. I archive my raws and use jpegs other stuff. Utilizing the controls on the camera helps but, you're right, RAW is always a better route. But not everyone shoots in RAW.
