The first picture that I've played with the rgb filters to make a photo black and white.

This is very cute! It is also, however, basically too dark. The shadows are quite deep and extensive, this looks like it was shot almost at night which is surely not the impression you want to give. If you can pull it up lighter, and open the shadows up quite bit, you might have something here. I am concerned since the child's eyes are so dark and shadowed, you might be unable to pull any more detail out there, and that's never going to look good.

The eyes are the most important thing in a portrait, neurologically we're wired to look at them and try to "read" them in a bunch of ways, so getting them right is huge.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll go back and play with the raw file some more. See if I can get it the look better.

Does this look better? I tried to bring out his eyes more, and lighten up the whole scene, but i think i lost some detail in his fingers. Thanks again for the help, Im relatively new to this and very new to any editing with digital
