This image is done using three exposure values with little sharpening and level adjustment.

It seems slightly tilted the the right (the left side is higher than the right). Other than that, tone down the temperature, and it's a winner.

you are right,
I find it very difficult to find a symmetric point in the church with a low angle shoot, need more practise XD

My attempt at a quick edit:

I toned back the yellow channel saturation, upped the clarity, added a touch of recovery, slightly rotated it to the left, lowered the temp, upped the vibrance, and lowered the saturation. All processed in Lightroom 3 in about 45 seconds.

I like your attempt, which brings a lot of details back!
In my humble opinion,though, the adjustment looses a bit of vibrance and contrast so the light coming from the windows looks less holy.
