I posted a photo of our Piazza before but on my walk yesterday the fountain was turned off. I'd never seen it off and so I was able to photograph the statuary in the fountain without streams of water. As I passed it on the way home it was back on. The fountain is made of Italian Carrara marble. Across the street from the Piazza is our Catholic church St. Ambrose and prominently displayed their is our neighborhood's signature icon -- The Italian Immigrants. Oly Pen E-PL9 w/14-42mm.

I love the first two.

I was in San Diego for a GIS/Geography conference and found a a fountain in a small square in Little Italy that I love - it's a globe.

I really need to go there. My great grandfather was an Italian immigrant who came from Genoa Italy when he was 15. Went through Ellis Island, made his way to Collinsville Il to work in the coal mines. Later he started a small farm after he married another Italian immigrant. His offspring all wound up on The Hill.

Stop by for lunch at Eovaldi's (corner Edwards & Bischoff) and get yourself an Italian sandwich. On a nice day you can take the sandwich over to Berra park (Macklind & Daggett) sit at the picnic tables or on the bleachers.

My Italians came in at Ellis Isle then went to Baltimore. My grandfather apparently had a twin who drown in the Baltimore harbor when a child. Some of our immigrants went to Philly, but I think those were some of the Irish; I’ll have to look.

I really enjoy your neighborhood walk photos. Growing up, and even as a young adult we traveled to St. Louis often, DW and I spent our honeymoon there, but in most cases it was in the suburbs or Arch area of downtown. You're showing me things I haven't seen before!

Why Black and White?
I've been recently working with updated software features (recent release of DXO PL-8.6) and refining my B&W processing and so when I went out for my walk I decided I would take any photos that day as B&W.
