I love the 2nd one, the first one is great too but slightly asymmetrical (a slight step to the left would have nailed it).

I agree, though. The second one is probably my favorite of all the pictures I've taken.

The first one is really great - very good simple composition. The second one is OK, but there is something strange going on with DoF.

I quite like the dof. The blurred lights look quite nice. I wonder what the 2nd pic would look like with b&w processing?

Thanks for the c&c, everyone! I do appreciate it . . . all of it.

WRT the first photo - I tried to re-crop it but It's just off center, which is totally bugging the crap out of me now! I may have to go back and re-shot it.

As for the second photo - it was my first run w/ the 35mm f/1.8, though it's actually shot a f/2.8. I wanted the main focus to be the bench, obviously, but I also wanted things to just kind of fade off into the back, which is why I used a shallow dof.

In the fist picture, "they say" it is good to have diagonal lines instead of straight lines... BUT your picture made it work. I like it. it doesn't follow the rule, but breaks it very nicely. I always recall Andy Warhol in these situations.

The second picture is also nice... the DOF you chose makes it seem like you are wondering off to the end of the bridge when you look at the picture. One small change I might suggest is that the begining of the rail on the right side of the photo would start sharp and then trail off. Otherwise, really great
