TPF Noob!
My new Nikkor 17-55mm F/2.8 lens showed up today. I tried a few shots and thought I would share
This is my first "pro lens". I have always heard that good glass matters for color, sharpness, contrast etc but I have never seen it with my own eyes so I played a little tonight.
The first shot is of my daughter, it's not a great photograph but I am impressed at the colors and contrast. Shot with a D2X in RAW at 17mm and F2.8 with a pair of SB800's.
The second is just a snap of my dog. This one shows how sharp the lens is. The last picture is a 200% crop of his eye. My friend actually took the picture and I was standing beside him. You can see the reflection of my face in his pupil. Very cool. (55mm, F5.6)
Yea, it's not a very scientific set of tests so far but I'm still impressed.
Time to go play some more.
