Hello everybody!

New member in the family, first nephew, and it seems he'll be seeing a lot the front of my 50mm lens, 'cause I just can't get tired of clicking the d*mn button

Not too experienced in photographing people, least in photographing newborns in bad lightning situations... But here it goes, there's a couple I think came out pretty good.
Taken in the hospital room, handheld 1/100 sec at f/2 and ISO 1600 and couldn't use flash, too afraid to hurt the little thing :)

Anyway, I'd like to hear your honest opinions. You can, of course needless to say, speak freely without worrying about me taking things the wrong way. After all the posts I've seen lately around, I though proper to make the clarification. I'm uploading this as an aspiring photographer, not as an uncle. I'll most welcome any feedback on this one or tips for future photos of the little lad!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family. The WB is little on the warm side but I think you capture the moment well. Try BW conversion and see how it looks.

first congrats on the little nephew, he is darling.

The w/b is a little off, it seems too warm/yellow. I'm betting this was taken in the hospital room, lighting isn't their top priority unfortunately but I think you did very well given the conditions. This is one of the images that Mom will cherish always, it says so much about the bond between her and her new son.

Congrats!!!!

The white balance is a bit off, but don't change it. Believe it or not, cooling this image might take some of the fuzzy stomach feeling it brings to the viewer away. Leave it warm, IMO.

Very nice shot, Martin!

I'll try the B/W conversion. I pretty much always try it, but not sure why I didn't here. Thank you!

Thanks! Yes, that's pretty much what I was going for, to capture an intimate moment between a mother and her newborn. My sister-in-law was walking around the room and trying to calm the baby down, so I was trying to capture that but it wasn't easy because she was paying little to no attention to me or anything else besides her baby

You all have a really good eye to identify when the WB is off! I know it is warm, only because I've had some problems with that here and spent quite a lot of time working to try to get it right. But, as you say here, it looked better to keep it on the warm side and not cool it down. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I liked it better this way.

Very nice shot, Martin!

Thanks Charlie! Appreciate it!
