My take on an outdoor portrait

My niece Kennedy ... I took these for my sister as she hasn't been able to get my niece's portrait done for her birthday yet this year ...

She wasn't terribly cooperative and I could NOT get her to smile for me!!

A fill flash was used for these shots.

I really like the second shot. I had to shoot a 3 week old today and I am now set to never do portraits again, candids yes as that is what I'm good at, but not portraits. You did well.

she is just beautiful..and looks like one of those child star actors...she is gorgeous..

i think you did a great job with her...i like the no smile... she seems to be thinking seriously about things.....

The second one is great, but I'd like to see it cropped to a head and shoulders shot since you didn't completely get her hands into the picture.

The hands would be a bonus, but closer cropping is not worth the trade-off. Did you try a bit of vignetting on this one (second view)? I think you might like it.
