Most of my post processing techniques were learnt from the Photographer Shoot-off: Lara Jade VS Joey L DVD and the Fashion Photography 101 with Lara Jade Creativelive course. I was also fortunate enough to get an internship under photographer Michael Thompson, and while working in his NYC office I was allowed to spend a good deal of time watching his retoucher Aika Uramoto work on his photos whenever I wasn't archiving his work.

It was a combination of being in New York City at the right time and meeting the right person who set me up for the internship. My mentor's boyfriend at the time was best friend's with Michael's previous first assistant, Chris, (who worked as Michael's first assistant for 7 years), and on my second day in NYC Chris gave me a tour of the city. I of course brought my camera without knowing his history with Michael and coerced him into letting me take portraits of him around the city, and after showing him the photos on the back of my camera he decided to put me up for the internship, and a week later I had an interview and got the internship. I found out later that they weren't even looking for an intern at the time but they gave me one anyways only because of Chris's recommendation. Again, it's all about being in the right place and meeting the right people.
Thank you. In the last photo I actually had to add color to the white tones in order to compensate for some over exposure. In order to get the face exposed the way I wanted it I had to over expose the highlights. To me it makes that part of his body look sort of flat, but I still liked the shot enough to keep it.
