Need advice for a new camera!!!

Hey,
Im very new to photography and I have only recently thought about it, My parents have a Nikon P90 Coolpix, they always so i should use that. I do not like the P90 because of its quality and sounds. I am thinking about gettin a Canon EOS 40D, but i was wondering if this would be too complicated or me (even though i know a lot about electronics). I would lie to know your opinion on the Canon,

Any entry level DSLR will benefit you. If your generally interested and want a DSLR camera then you can't go wrong with any DSLR.

The 40d is a respectable camera that would bring years of great photographs...

All I can say it do your homework... Most DSLR models have model specific books available at your local bookstore that can make learning the basic and advanced functions a breeze. Just make sure you read and don't make an impulsive decision... Find what is right for you.
