For starters, the river looks like yogurt

You really need to tone that down or convert to B&W and add a bit of contrast. I think it's actually stronger as a monochrome:

Also, there's a crapload of sensor dust in the clouds.

This looks waaaaay better, IMO.

tone down the saturation. colors are cool, but way too strong, and i dont think it would be seriously considered for a contest winner. either desaturate it a bit, or do a B&W.
