Neither Rain, nor Sleet, nor Snow

Stops a coastal freighter. Like the postal service, products need to get to their ports on schedule. Both of these shots are of the same vessel, the Alpha Bulker, which just delivered a load of wood pellets to the port. My challenge is that I wanted to create a sense of "melancholy" through cropping and processing and now cannot decide which conveys this feeling the most - or, if any.

I'll go with #1. The freighter looks empty, and is heading out, so to me, that is the more "melancholy".

I'd go with the 2nd because, coupled with what Designer said, it looks more distant and lonely.

i don't see any melancholy. I like the pics though. Do you have to pick one? I kind of like them both. The first one might be a little more processed though too sharp, something, maybe back that off just a touch...

It is a little more processed but I rarely add any sharpening.

The first works better for me. It might be a little melancholy, I'm not sure, but a good image nonetheless. The POV on the second one almost makes the ship look like it's sitting on the rocks.
