Shingfan, I've looked at so much stuff in such a short period of time, my brain is malfunctioning!!! I'm sorry, the lens that comes with the body is a Quantaray 18-200mm DC 3.5-6.3. I have no idea what the DC means. Sorry for the confusion. (welcome to my world, lol).

I misunderstood as well. The Quantaray won't be as good as the Nikkor...but it's a lot cheaper. I'm guessing that the DC has something to do with 'digital'...as I'm thinking that this lens is made to work with digital SLR cameras (APS-C sized sensors) and not 35mm film SLRs.

Well, the body/lens package is from Wolf camera, $1360. Should I just buy the body and look for a separate main lens? I liked the 18-200mm range and the fact that it was f/3.5 (vs 4+).

i would recommend buying just the body...and choose a different lense....lense with such large focal range is usually suffered from distortion........best to avoid unless you've use it and like it.......(i'm advertising the nikon 18-200 VR...:mrgreen: )

the nikon 18-55 or the 18-70 would be a better starting kit choice
