New joiner from UK

came across this forum whilst scanning for information on Metz flash accessories. I'm based in the UK just outside London. Been kicking around with a camera for 45+ years. Last 30 have been with Nikon kit. I managed to buy my dream camera way back in 1981. A local dealer had a used Nikon F with the Photomic head and 50mm f1.4 lens at a silly price. Close inspection revealed that it was in fact a bitza. The head and body were satin but the back was from an all black model. Years later I checked out the detail on both and found that they both were the same year - 1967. I had the camera and metering overhauled by Nikon in around 1991, when they were also able to recalibrate the meter to work with newer batteries. It still works beautifully even now. I also managed to get a Nikkormat FTn from the same dealer a few weeks after buying the F. I used both bodies for freelance press work for a few years. I made the transition to digital just over a year ago. Now play with a D80 and some nice AF lenses I picked up dirt cheap. Nikon 28-85mm f3.5 and 80-200mm f4, both of which will fit the older manual bodies nicely.

Main interest these days is people and situations, but looking to get into some studio work. ALways interested in comparing notes with others. If you happen to be UK based and west of London, drop me a line
