First off I want to say Hello to everyone I'm so excited to finally start this journey of maybe one day going pro. I was playing around with my camera last night and edited a picture. How would you have done it any tips on making it better?

You used the pop up flash?

Try to increase the room ilumination and avoid the pop up flash... I noticed that when I do this, the photo seems more natural, and less overexposed on some parts...

In your case, the baby looks overexposed to me, and the background under exposed. I mean, The baby, too much light. The background, too poor light...

Try to conciliate...

Straighten the dress up first. Then not chop the top of her head off.

Lol she is only 8 weeks and so tiny it was juggle to try to get her to sit up and keep her clothes on lol

Thanks for giving me actual tips! I will try again applying what you said.

Nice idea to mask the everyday background. Stepping back a bit to get all her head/hand in shot would look better. Use a tilt-head flash to bounce the light of the ceiling too, if you can get one.

Welcome to the forum.
Take a step back.
Turn the camera to portrait orientation and place child in front of uncluttered back ground but not directly, maybe 4-6 feet away.
Brighten lighting in room if possible or use off camera flash. Normal room lighting requires additional lighting and a flash unit usually suffices.
1/60th seems slow for awake baby, and the dress is pretty bright. You could've ease back say to 1/100th shutter or maybe an aperature more like f4. Iso was only at 50 and maybe taken that up to 100-200. Using the flash helps you to adjust the settings more easily the only problem is on camera flash is usually harsh.
As far as the post work I believe a simple blur would work, the flowers don't work for me but you are starting out so have fun and learn all you can.
