This photo of the Acid Tanks will be on display in the Art of Photography Show at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery in San Diego. It is one of 102 pieces out of 12,216 entries selected by Carol McCusker.

The opening is on April 25, 2008 and the show will be on display until May 25th. Unfortunately, I can't make the opening, but I hope you will take a look if you are in the area.

The photo was taken with a Mamiya C220 on Tri-X film, in Bellingham, WA at the Georgia Pacific paper mill site.

My first thought on seeing this was that it looks like a still from a 1950s 'B' movie - those acid tanks could double as spaceships carrying alien invaders - then I noticed those white structures, like 1930s art deco grain silos. The dark and the emptiness give it a slightly unsettling feel; I looked at the night photos on your website and they all give me the same feeling - it's the absence of human figures I think. Very nice.
