Nikon Creative Lighting System alternatives?

If I am looking to buy a new DSLR, and am wanting to use a strobist-style setup, what are some of the alternatives to going with Nikon's CLS system?

If I bought a Pentax, Olympus, or Sony, will they be able to offer me the same simple system, or is it going to be a lot tougher to do?

There are so many different types of alternatives.
Paul C Buff Cyber Syncs work great for me.

Don't think Pocket Wizards work with Olympus or Sony. You could do PC-Sync with wires, old-school style!

If you went Canon you could use PWs..

May i ask why you do not want to use nikon's CLS? As formatted stated, i don't think PW's work with olympus or sony, and the other MAIN alternative (high quality triggers and recievers) its Paul C. Bluff's, which are quite pricy. You could use the ones found on ebay, which i hope someone will post a link to (i can't access ebay at school).

I have heard those work well enough.

I got my CyberSyncs for $150 on eBay.
I got 1 transmitter, and 2 receivers.

May i [sic] ask why you do not want to use nikon's [sic] CLS?

For me it's because Nikon's CLS is line-of-sight only (or very close to it), has limited range, and in direct sunlight is just about useless because it's IR signal is overpowered by the IR the Sun produces.

Radio triggering has none of those problems.

Plus, learning to use strobed light in manual mode is far easier than learning all the ins-and-outs of iTTL.
