That's what most Nikon users bought as a first flash too right? Guess they're replacing it with something better?

i have 2. but i used them mostly on camera to bounce around.

if i use speedlights off camera i use my vivitard 285hv.

my next ittl flash is probably going to be a nissin 466 or 866 if i can find metal shoe replacement.
From my experience, i will never buy speedlights with plastic shoes.

Isn't that the reason they came out with the SB700?

I actually thought Nikon was going to keep the SB-600. As the price point for the SB-700 was $100 more than the SB-600. So now your going from $120 price point for the SB-400 to $320 for the SB-700. That is a huge hole in the product line that will be filled by other equipment manufacturers!! And considering the SB-700 is nearly the same power output but more features than the SB-600. I doubt they will introduce a replacement for the SB-600, the SB-700 is the replacement. Obviously they have bean counters helping with their product line of what to carry or not. But I think this moves helps other companies. Maybe they are working on a SB-500 with similar specs as the SB-600 but with less power to position it below the SB-700??? I doubt it, but I think $200 price difference is a pretty big hole in their product line.

I have 3 sb-600's and want a total of 4. Looks like I need to get the 4th pretty soon.

Hopefully I will now be able to sell my 600's for more than I bought them. (Just like the 800)

I was looking the other day and noticed the street price for new is now about $40 more than I paid for mine. And I bought them right after they had gone up about $30 (still kicking myself for that one).
