You know, I've looked at this a few times over the past couple of days, it's a really interesting shot. My only personal nit-pick is that his underwear bother me, they distract from the tattoo with their plaid pattern. (And, hehheh, I'm just old enough that I plain old don't get the super low hanging pants thing, but nevermind that..)

I keep wondering why you decided on B&W, though. That tattoo must be stunning in colour.

Yeah I missed the undies being a distraction.

Well the tattoo is black and white so color might not make to much a difference. Here's a link to the original edit I tried.

I agree on the undies. This was an impromptu shoot new years night! I need to get him over for another round of pictures and pay attention to those minor details.

About the shaping, well it's nice but I feel I want more fill in the middle. My mistake in my lighting setup was I used a flash left of the subject, just behind shooting through a screen. I could have just used a reflector and had my second strobe as fill.

Don't think I'll be doing any nude(not my thing) but a re-shoot without the boxers showing is a must.

What do you mean by more dramatic light? Where would you have positioned the strobes for more dramatic lighting?
