Noise on Canon 350d/Rebel XT @ ISO800

I left the settings to ISO800 by mistake and thought at least some use for the shot would be to let people see the noise.

I have to stress that this is ISO800 and that the camera performs 100 times better and very cleanly at the usual ISO100, ISO200.

No compression on this image, so it's not jpeg artifacts. It wasn't cropped or resized either, it's 800px wide straight from the original.1

 

looks about right.

 

I would have expected even more noise from a 350 D. looks OK for ISO800.

 

I should do an actual series through the range
