As previously stated, this challenge is temporarily being run on a bi-monthly basis. That means you now have (almost) two months to enter.

The November-December 2017 challenge theme will be . . . Still Life. Remember, there's no one "right" way to interpret the monthly theme--think outside the box, get creative!

Winner of the Challenge will receive free TPF membership for 12 months.

HOW TO ENTER:
The challenge contest is open to any registered member of TPF.
1. Take a photo (photos should be taken during the challenge period, and should NOT have been previously posted to TPF). Resize photo to be no longer than 1200px on the longest edge.
2. Email photo to [email protected] as an attachment. Use subject line "November-December 2017 Photo Challenge Entry." In the body of your email, include your name, TPF username, and the photo title.
PLEASE name your file the same as the photo title.

Deadline to enter is midnight GMT on the last calendar day of the month.

The TPF Fine Print
For your convenience, EVERYTHING you REALLY need to know to enter the contest is listed above. However, you may find the following information useful, should you wish to read it.

General Contest Information
1. One entry per person. However, you may submit a new photo to replace an entry made earlier in the period if you choose.
2. Images must have been taken by the person submitting them.
3. Images must be anonymous--images with watermarks or identifying information embedded in the EXIF data or title will be rejected.
4. The challenge moderators reserve the right to reject an entry for any reason they deem appropriate. You will be notified if your photo is rejected and given the reason for the rejection.
5. Contest moderators are not eligible to enter.
6. Entrants must be a member for at least 10 days and have contributed at least 10 meaningful threads including an introduction.
7. Rules 5 and 6 may be suspended in the event there are fewer than three (3) entries for that month. The contest may also be canceled in any month containing less than three (3) entries.

Voting Process:
1. Submissions will be compiled into a voting thread within one week after the entry deadline.
2. Voting polls will remain open for one week.
3. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a panel of moderators.

3. Images must be anonymous--images with watermarks or identifying information embedded in the EXIF data or title will be rejected.

Don't mean to be troublesome but why is this in the rules? Do you plan on using the images somehow down the road? Wouldn't including a release be sufficient?

I delete them after posting the voting thread - both the images and the emails, having no need to use them. I’m an honest person. I don’t even vote unless it’s to break a tie, and then I have others that weigh in before a decision is made.

The challenge is supposed to be a blind judged contest. This is the way to make it so.

As far as EXIF, I don’t worry about it because I can strip it all before I upload. I’m sure I could also remove smaller water marks , but I’d rather not.

I'm sure you are an honest person, and I meant nothing in my earlier comment to suggest otherwise. I thought that this might be the case after I'd already posted. However while I can see the need for a blind contest, it also might well create a disadvantage for those of us less qualified. This may not be the proper way of looking at it but in other contests on TPF that require voting, I've tried to consider the experience level of the photographer, holding those with more experience and skill to to higher level than the Noob. Glad it's you and not me having to make all these decisions. LOL

It’s not too bad. The hardest part is putting things together.

I’m sure you would do well, just get a idea and practice.

Now that I’ve answered your question, you are required to enter. Otherwise I will transport you to some northern city. :aufsmaul:

Heaven forbid ---- At least till next spring and it warms up! LOL

Mid-term bump. Come on, Still Life, a lot of possibilities, here.

So I could submit on the 24th of Dec? I would like to do this. I have been taking some interesting things into shape consideration lately that fall naturally in a room. And I had an idea to do an art show someday with various settings of the very same objects as set of images too.

Yes, you have until the Postage Stamp drops at the Old Post Office in Washington DC (Midnight December 31-January 1)

Final Week - get those entries in!

Ugh! I've tried a couple of times but I'm just coming up short as a still life photographer! Hoping others are doing better...
