1 for me, balanced composition, nice texture comparison.

I looked at them all large...#1 for me. Why? I like the harmony of the single depth plane that it shows. The background/foreground relationship in #2 was not appealing to me--it put me off. Same with #3, with the roof and sky areas also making me feel...not engaged--I think because the white upper area shows no real detail, and it brings in another depth plane in a not-appealing way. For me at least the top area is just not advancing the shot, so I greatly prefer shot #1 for its simplicity, unity of feeling, and its self-reinforcing, single-plane vibe. #1 to me is also a wonderfully balanced, virtually perfect composition.

Well thanks Derrel & Dan. ... This was one of those spur of the moment things ... The owner just happened to be home, etc etc. tell you truth for me, it was a tie with #1 & 3 but I see the point about nothing going on in the white area of 3 . That's a crop I think and maybe I can tinker a bit ... I was going for an old, aged photo look in LR, and I've really been liking the cream tone lately ... I may pursue it a little more in Photoshop with layers etc.

I'll pay more attention to the planes you were talking about, & see what I can come up with.
