Treat Trust Wales is a charity for which I support. They are working to introduce a rehabilitation centre for the disabled and people getting over illness in Wales. Melanie Davies is the founder of the charity who was involved in a motorcycle crash at the age of 15 and broke her back and lost all feeling from the chest down. In later years after the health system had failed her saying that she would not live to her 30th birthday, she has survived breast cancer twice, and written an autobiography called Never say die. As a footnote she ended up marrying the surgeon who first treated her when she was admitted in hospital at 15.
Mel was rightfully selected as one of the torch bearers in the Olympic Torch relay through Swansea. Here are a few pictures I took when there to support her:
