I just ordered mine today from Adorama along with the 12-50mm kit lens. I'm so excited for this new system and I'm curious as to how it will compare the mid-range Nikon and Canon cameras. Anyone else looking into the 4/3 camera system?

I certainly want the OMD thingy!

A smaller, lighter camera with good AF and weathersealing with a smaller sensor so I can mate a 200-300mm cheap and smallish zoom to it and get a 400-600mm angle of view. I find I leave the DSLR behind when I'm out on a general trip simply because carrying a long lens and the DSLR is a lot of weight and bulk which I don't often have space for - the m4/3rds fits into the market really well, from my point of view, as a pocket camera for the more serious photographer.

I just went for the little Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 for this very reason. Nice having a lighter weight camera. Went with the regular mid-zoom kit lens and added the longer zoom lens, which I shot with for the first time yesterday. Will be on the road twice in the next month and am looking forward to seeing how it performs as a substitute for my dslr on these trips. It shoots raw and the image quality is very good. The raw files are actually larger than my 4-ye-old Nikon. Shooting using the LCD especially with the longer zoom takes some getting used to, but overall the experience has been very a pleasant one. My camera bag as packed for these trips is a LOT lighter, even when throwing in all the cables, battery charger, filters (same size of several of my regular Nikon lenses which is convenient), and a small travel tripod. But it's been the image quality that has been pleasantly surprising so far.
