I think the contrast is just right. There's good tonalities and if there were to be more contrast, the already black strap of the purse would be of no benefit, shadows would be harsher and the highlights in her hair would be blown, imo.

What loses it for me is where her hair blends in with the grass. For that reason, I think this would be better in color.

I agree with the hair comment, if she was a brunette it might look better in black and white
