Online courses.

Hi guys, im new to photography and was wandering if anybody could recomend an online photography course or any books or videos that are worth looking at. Thanks in advance guys.

Check out Lynda.com and KelbyOne. There's also plenty of stuff on Youtube. You can start there by visiting Phlearn (for photoshop), AdoramaTV, B&H, LearnMyShot, and maybe SnapFactory (can't recall if they are still making videos).

For books I'd recommend "The Photographers Eye", "Understanding Exposure", "The Photograph" (Harold Mante), and "On Camera Flash Techniques".

That should give you a pretty solid base to get started.

Mary Levoy's course is very good.
Digital Photography
(as given at Stanford) It doesn't assume any starting photographic knowledge, but I guess its more aimed at engineers & does get quite deep. Its all on line free so well worth a look, even if you just play with the applets or try the assignments
