Hey All, first post!

I am working on a project compiling slides for a forthcoming book and need a bit of assistance. Some of the slides (35mm) are original and some are duplicates. I was told that to tell the difference i should look at the slides under light to see the ink, but it is not as easy as anticipated.

Does anyone have any advice for determining which are original and which are dups?

The reason for this is we should have the originals of all so if we have a duplicate I will need to try and find the corresponding original to ensure the best quality.

It is a cool project, all the slides are from Studio 54 Parties from the late 70's and early 80's.

You'd probably need to remove the slides from their mounts and read the film ID information at the edge. A dup would most likely be made using a slide dup film whereas an original would most likely be made with a conventional pictorial film such as Ektachrome, Kodakchrome, Fujichrome, etc
